150th Anniversary Meeting
On the 10th December 2018, the Enfield Lodge No. 1237 celebrated its 150th Anniversary Installation meeting at the Southgate Masonic Centre. The Lodge was consecrated on the 1st December 1868 at the Court House in Enfield.
Guests of honour were W. Bro. Barry Cramer the Deputy Provincial Grand Master and W. Bro. Nigel Codron the Asst. Provincial Grand Master who were accompanied by a delegation from the Province. Having “demanded admission”, Bro. Barry accepted the Gavel from the installing Master, W. Bro. Pete Hull PPDepGReg, and gave a short talk on the different world into which the Enfield Lodge had been born 150 year previously.
He mentioned that Queen Victoria had been on the throne, and Mahatma Gandhi had been born that year. William Gladstone defeated Benjamin Disraeli in the first general election since the passing of the 1867 Reform Act by more than a hundred seats.
Having been saluted by all present, Bro. Barry vacated the Chair of King Solomon in favour of Bro. Pete Hull who went on to install W. Bro. William (Bill) Cooper PPGReg, as Worshipful Master of the Lodge for the ensuing year.
